I'm back, been working so its hard to get anything else done.

Thought I would add some pictures of the Bolivar Pennisula, Crystal Beach area.

We went to Galveston and rode back on the Ferry. I had seen other pictures of the area but it was unbelieveable to see it for yourself. There are areas where there is nothing left.

well, I am trying to keep this blog up, doing pretty good so far

Don't want everyone to think that things are always depressing and muddy here.

Since the storm, my son got married to a great girl. Had a great wedding that we all enjoyed. All three of my kids were engaged last year, he was the first to tie the knot, We will be having another wedding in the spring and one in the fall.

After that maybe grandkids aren't far away.(need someone to spoil).

My nephew and his girlfriend also got engaged this Christmas.

ok, can we say we are jealous. Look what they delivered to Kurt and Hannah's

they haven't moved in yet, still waiting for fema to do their stuff. There are a couple of these trailers around town, guess they started running out of the other kind. Can't wait to see it on the inside, hope its nice. They also got engaged at Christmas, so this is good for them.

We are living in the trailer, Moved in on Christmas Eve and so far so good. It a bit small, but its better then nothing. We did get a tv and cable hooked up before we moved in, also got a queen bed to replace the full yucky mattress they had in here. The other thing that you can 't live without is a good shower, so we also changed out the shower head and now have a half way decent flow.

the mattress takes up the whole room but it is worth it. It is still a little bit muddy outside, but we are dealing with it. have boards down to walk on when we need to.

the drainage district lost its mind and thought it was a good idea to destroy the landscape. They tore up the land behind the pond to get their equipment back there, they are building some kind of levy/drainage ditch out there. In the process they have make a big mess, cut down a bunch of trees and drove the last nail in the coffin that is the death of our property. We are now temporary homesteaders in our fema trailer. All we can do is to make things comfortable for how ever long we will be here. We still do not know what we are going to do, weather to buy another house in Bridge City, buy somewhere else, rent somewhere til we retire. We just don't know. The last rumors are that the city is going to buy us out. I plan to go talk to them on Monday and see what its all about. Hopefully it will be something good.

Something happened with our Fema trailer getting here when It was suppose to. thats not too hard to believe since its coming from the government. So we had all kinds of people out here all of a sudden(still don't know why). They all stood around and decided what to do with all the mess out here. The Orange County drainage district took over cleaning up the area around the ditch, Which they told us including the back yard, and the neighbors back yards. The fema guys decided to put the trailer in front of the house and started bulldozing the mud and grass out of the way. While doing that, we decided the cut down three dead tree that were over the place the said they were putting the trailer, I didn't think it was safe. We had to pay for that, cause they said they wouldn't. (although they were going to cut down 4 other trees for the first place they were going to put the trailer,at their expense). Of course during all of this, it was raining at least every other day, so everything was muddy. when they finally got here with the trailer, the place where they were going to put it was a lake, so the driver put it in the original spot(without haveing to cut any trees) .So we now have a Fema trailer next to the driveway. The drainage guys are still here, so we still can't get in the driveway to move in. It was another two weeks before we moved in. And its still a mudhole. We are now happy if it doesn't rain in a day.

Well, I told you I was not a good blogger. But I will get this thing caught up tonight.

Since the hurricane, we have been just trying to figure out what we are doing. We have learned to take things as they come-the good with the bad. I have discovered that even when things look the worst, that there is always someone somewhere that is worse off then we are.

We signed up with the Church of Christ disaster relief organization. They sent over a youth group out of Richardson Hill, Tx . In a weekend they had the house completely gutted. They did a fantastic job. We could have never done all of this ourselves. I asked them to look for any
Christmas stuff because I was looking for the Precious Moments navity set that I knew was in the garage. They left some stuff in the driveway and when I went through it,the navity was there. They where happy that we had found it. If anyone wants to give to any charity, the Church of Christ Disaster Relief is a great organization. They are still in town (their motto is'First In, Last Out') they are still cooking a meal a day, and handing out supplies.
